Denkmeyer Looking At 25% Turnout

Almost nine of every ten Wisconsin voters will stay away from the polls

today, in what could be a watershed moment for the state’s rural public schools. The Government Accountability Board predicts a 12% percent turnout. But La Crosse County Clerk, Ginny Denkmeyer sees it differently. She explains her 20-25% turnout prediction.

But we’ll see how taxpayers respond to maintaining their public school programs, as 26 of the 428 districts have referendums to exceed their state mandated revenue limits. Locally they include La Crosse, West Salem and Tomah. There are no statewide races today.
