Police Reserves Rescue Woman From Beating
Police reserves are getting credited for intervening in the brutal beat down of a woman in La Crosse’s Riverside Park this weekend. Police say 24 year-old Karl Berndt and his girlfriend got into an argument over money right before midnight on Friday. The fight apparently escalated as they walked into the park and got to the point where Berndt was beating the woman and strangling her. The reserves stopped the ordeal. Berndt says he didn’t lay a hand on the woman.
