Back in 1993, 51 year old Steven Warner of Sparta was tried and convicted of
sexually assaulting a 5 year old girl. He spent 20 years in prison and was released in May of last year. Another 5 year old girl was assaulted at the same time….and after she came forward…Warner was been charged again.
Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Croninger explains why Warner was never charged with that assault in the first place.
Former district attorney Dan Cary, who died in November, and his investigator started looking into the case again when the victim in the current case became concerned about Warner’s prison release. Warner posted a $10 thousand cash bond and is supposed to be in court on Monday.
