La Crosse will host the Republican Party’s state convention in May 2015. The choice was announced at the party’s annual convention on Saturday in Milwaukee. The announcement came shortly after the La Crosse County Republican Party accepted the County of the Year, the state party's top award honoring just one county party a year and later in a day when Julian Bradley overwhelmingly won the state party’s endorsement. "It's an incredibly exciting time to be a Republican in La Crosse County, and that excitement is going to continue into next year," said Bill Feehan, La Crosse County Republican Party chairman. "It's an honor to have our city chosen for this statewide event.” The La Crosse Area Convention and Visitors Bureau helped put together the winning bid. Executive Director Dave Clements said: "The La Crosse Area Convention and Visitors Bureau along with the La Crosse County Republican Party, The La Crosse Center and all of our hospitality partners are excited to host the State Republican Convention in May of 2015. We are pleased the Republican party has selected La Crosse and we appreciate the economic impact it will bring to this area.” “The scenic beauty of the Mississippi River, Grandad Bluff, and our entire region offers an ideal setting for this convention,” said Clements.
