Zoning Decision Will Allow County Plans to Move Forward

Published

The first domino has fallen in La Crosse county’s elaborate plans to move out of its current digs downtown and develop the city block parking lot known as lot C.  The city council on Thursday gives the okay to a rezoning plan for that will allow the current county building to be turned into a private dorm for WTC.  That move will allow the county to sell the building to a developer and buy the Associated bank building.  Associated will, in turn, get a spot on the soon-to-be-developed lot C.  Nothing’s a done deal yet.  But the city council zoning decision was seen as a crucial first step without which the whole project would unravel.  It’s unclear at what point the rest of the real estate dominos will also tumble.
