Tomorrow Especially Big For One Wisconsin Town
Not exactly one of the big grill-out kind of holidays. But Flag Day, recognized tomorrow, is still a pretty big deal. Especially in Waubeka, Wisconsin, from where Flag Day originates. National Flag Foundation president Jack Janik sees only a growing reverance for the flag among Americans
Flag Day’s birth was in 1885 in a school in Waubeka. That’s where a 19 year-old teacher first assigned essays on the significance of the American flag. The day was recognized by congress in 1916.
