La Crosse Police Get Surplus MRAP

La Crosse soon will have 20 tons of mine resistant vehicle rolling through the streets.  Police have recently become one of 23 jurisdictions in the state to collect a Caiman Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle as surplus from the federal government.  Police say the M-RAP will be used with the department’s emergency response team and could protect someone from an active shooter or rescue people from a flood because it can go through three feet of water.  M-RAP’s originally cost the feds over seven hundred thousand dollars but La Crosse essentially got it for free.  It comes in desert tan.  But La Crosse police apparently plan on slapping a coat of paint on it.
