New Radio System Closer for La Crosse
New radios appear to be officially on the way for La Crosse. The city’s public works board has agreed to a $4.8 million contract with Motorola to replace the outdated current system used by everyone in the city from cops to the snow plow drivers. Nice refresh, says public works director, Dale Hexom, for the current system they can no longer get parts for. And being able to communicate directly with surrounding governments will be nice, too
As part of the system upgrades, two new towers will be added to improve reception. Some additional costs associated with the towers will push the total cost for the upgrade up a above six million dollars.
