Over the past year, we have heard stories of how school children who didn’t
have enough money in their food accounts has the meals taken away from them. Kerri Feyen is with the district’s Nutrition Services. She says to a point she understands where some school districts are coming from.
But to make sure that’s not happening in West Salem schools, an account called the Jane Doe fund was set up years ago to make sure children in need had money to eat. It’s driven by a donation from left over monies in children’s food accounts once they leave that school and a gift every year by Jim’s Grocery bag.
