Riverfest Update
Currently none of our water events have been cancelled. The River City Waterski show, Flyboard Extreme Demonstration, and the Big Blue Dragon Boat Races are all still scheduled to display as planned. The safety of every performer or participant is very important and with high water comes additional risks and laws that must be reviewed. We will continue to make every effort to have each event as planned. Should any events be cancelled we will notify this distribution list along with posts on our website and Facebook page.
In review of our water events the exposed nature of the water-skiers and the flyboard demonstration makes high water a greater concern compared to other events on the river. Debris carried downstream may cause hazards for the boats involved in towing operations along with potential injury to the physical skiers. The concern is also regarding no-wake conditions on the river due to the water level. Although more shielded from debris, the Blue Dragon Boat Races are also affected by the high water and the swift currents. The Kwik Trip Fireworks Extravaganza is also still scheduled to display on July 4th. Each event has some type of contingency plan in place which may include the re-location of an event.
Again I stress that none of these events have been cancelled at this time. We are in active communication with all the parties involved to ensure the safety of each event and will make any cancellation calls as late possible to prevent unnecessary cancellation
