DNR And Police Team Up To Spot Drunken Boaters
The goal is ‘dry water’…
Sounds like a paradox, but law enforcement will be patrolling lakes and rivers this weekend to keep boat operators ‘dry’ on the water…not drunk, that is. Adam Stennett (STEN-it) is a DNR trainee in the La Crosse area, who’s working on ‘Operation Dry Water’:
Those officers will be checking on boats today through Sunday, ready with tickets and warnings. Last year, 87 boating accidents were recorded in Wisconsin, leading to 13 deaths. Nearly all those deaths resulted from drowning.
