Falsely Accused Sparta Man Could Get New Rape Trial
The sexual assault conviction of a Sparta man is being reversed by a state court of appeals, because his accusers reportedly were all found to be lying…
Daniel Bolstad was convicted by a La Crosse County jury in 2006, for the second-degree sexual assault of a sleeping woman. He was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in prison. The prosecution said Bolstad was lying when he claimed innocence. But since then, new evidence has revealed that witnesses falsely accused Bolstad of assault, allegedly to cover up a violation of a court order in a child custody case. The Bolstad case is being sent back to circuit court, to determine whether should be a new trial.
