Railway Study Underway
Concerns about hazardous rail traffic coming through La Crosse have led the
county to authorize a railroad safety study. The county board has voted to hire a consultant for a 35-thousand dollar study, to see if certain rail routes through the county need to be improved. County Highway Commissioner Ron Chamberlain says the study will be wide-ranging…covering areas from crossing signals to the speed and frequency of trains:
Several rail crossings around the county will be inspected…but that would not include crossings in the city of La Crosse.
