Mayor’s Task Force Issues Long List Of Ideas For Improving La Crosse Libraries
‘We’re doing what we can’…
That’s what one member of the La Crosse Library Board says to the city task force which has a mission of keeping three library buildings open. Jeff George said the task force seems to be missing the message that library directors want to keep the branches running. But observers, like city council member Peg Jerome, believe that the library wants one thing, while its customers want something else:
The task force met last night, and compiled a list of nearly 20 recommendations for improving the library system. Those ideas include appointing ‘local experts’ to review the library’s spending policies, and having a referendum. George said the panel doesn’t seem to have a clear idea of what purpose the referendum would serve.
