Packers announce Favre’s Hall of Fame induction date
By RICK SOLEM
The date has been set.
The Green Bay Packers announced today that Brett Favre
will be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame on July 18.
Favre’s No. 4 will be retired to the North Facade of Lambeau Field during a regular-season game in 2015.
Favre’s name and number will go up next to Don Hutson (14), Bart Starr (15), Ray Nitschke (66), Tony Canadeo (3) and Reggie White (92).
Favre took questions during the 45-minute press conference, including whether or not he’s worried about getting booed during the ceremony.
Favre also said he has not recently spoke to Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson or head coach Mike McCarthy. Favre and Thompson, of course, did not see eye to eye during the first of Favre’s many retirements.
The Packers did not announce when, or if, they are selling tickets for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony or what game his number will go onto the Ring of Honor.
During his career, Favre started an NFL record 297 consecutive games (253 with Green Bay from 1992-2007).
Favre holds NFL records for passing yards (71,838), touchdown passes (508), pass attempts (10,169), completions (6,300). He also has the records for most interceptions (336), most times sacked (525) and the most fumbles (166).
Favre posted a video earlier today here on the announcement.
