Department Head Vacancies Mounting in City Hall

La Crosse’s mayor Tim Kabat has talked about trimming the number of department heads in city hall.  He appears to be getting that opportunity now.  The city now has three departments with leadership positions to fill.  City planner Larry Kirch is heading to a new job in Arizona.  But the city’s finance department has had an interim director since spring.  The MTU has been lacking a permanent director since late last year.  There’s a possibility that the bus service could be folded into the parking utility and the finance director may turn into a bigger job with more responsibility.
