Attempted Murder Trial To Continue In Monroe County
20 year old Daniel Pickett of Arkdale has been found competent to stand trial on several felony charges including attempted murder of a Warrens woman. Pickett underwent a 10 day mental evaluation at the Mendota Health Institute last month. A Monroe County reviewed the report and determined Pickett has the mental capacity to understand court proceedings.
Pickett is facing 20 separate charges, including attempted first degree homicide, kidnapping and car theft, related to a crime spree in September of 2013. He allegedly told police that he planned to kill the woman and said he choked her and kicked her in the face. He also told police he was going to put her in the trunk but didn’t know where he would take her since it was a spur of the moment decision.
