Rail Safety Group Seeking More Concessions
The offer from Burlington Northern to the city of La Crosse apparently won’t be the last word on whether a second set of tracks gets built through the city. BNSF has offered expensive improvements if the city backs off of legal challenges. But the city isn’t ready to accept that offer. Good thing, says Maureen Freedland, with the group Citizens Acting for Rail Safety. Because the city needs more protection from rail hazards
Freedland’s group is also recommending fines for Burlington Northern for trains stuck at crossings for more than ten minutes.
