Bradley Takes Lead In Sec Of State Primary; Kurtz Leads 3rd Dist. GOP For Congress

La Crosse’s Julian Bradley jumped out to an early lead on Tuesday, in his primary for secretary of state.

In the early returns, Bradley had a double-digit lead over Garey Bies in the Republican run-off.  Bradley announced his bid for the post early this year, declaring that he wants to restore duties to the secretary of state’s office that have been taken away during the tenure of incumbent Democrat Doug LaFollette. 

In another Republican primary watched in this area, Tony Kurtz of Prairie du Chien had a strong lead in the early count against Ken Van Doren and Karen Mueller.  This marked one of the few times that the GOP has had more than one primary candidate in the race to unseat Congressman Ron Kind.
