Trempealeau County Serious About Fracking

So far this year, Trempealeau County has doled out 28 reclamation permits to

mine for frac sand. Only 4 or 5 companies are actively mining. That’s why an ordinance was passed late last year that states you have 12 months to mine…..or say goodbye to that permit. Trempealeau County Land Management director Kevin Lien says the county is serious, with county residents in mind.

Since the ordinance went into effect, 6 more companies have made an effort to start mining for the highly sought after sand.
