Murder Victim’s Criminal Past Won’t Be Issue At Anderson Trial In La Crosse
A fatal fight in La Crosse last year may have been motivated more by a debt than by supposed drug activity…
And the jury in Mitrel Anderson’s murder trial probably will hear about a fight over money, rather than any suggestion that the victim may have been involved with drugs. Attorneys in the case argued about possible trial evidence during a hearing yesterday. It’s been reported that victim DeMario Lee wanted to borrow money from Anderson after a state trooper confiscated several thousand dollars from Lee during a traffic stop. Prosecutor Michelle Keller says that information could influence the jury:
Judge Elliott Levine says the December trial should be about what happened during the fight, not about whether the victim was involved in crimes.
