City Budget Depends on State

So far, things are looking pretty good for La Crosse city property taxpayers for the coming year.  Mayor Tim Kabat’s budget calls for less spending and a slightly lower tax rate.  But that all assumes the state will not reduce funding to local governments

Kabat has proposed a $70 million dollar spending plan that is about $300 thousand smaller than this year’s budget and will decrease the city’s portion of property taxes on a median-priced home by just a few pennies.
