House Explosion At Genoa May Have Been Caused By Furnace

Furnace problems may have led to a reported explosion at a house near Highway 35 in the Genoa area this morning…

Sheriff John Spears of Vernon County says home owner Roger Beck had just left the house when a blast blew out a window and door, shortly after 6 a-m.  Beck said he had trouble getting the furnace going today.  Several other fire departments from the area joined Stoddard fire crews in battling the flames.  Apparently, no one was hurt.  A part of Highway 35 was closed for a short time because of the fire.
