Dump Truck Driver Gets Delay In Plea Hearing For I-90 Crash

No plea today from a dump truck driver charged with causing a fatal interstate crash on French Island…

The attorney for Francis Rychtik (RICK-tik) is being allowed more time to prepare for a ‘not guilty’ plea on the vehicular homicide charge.  Rychtik was arrested last week for a July crash that killed La Crescent driver Jason Songer.  The dump truck drove over the top of Songer’s car, and a fire started.  Rychtik is accused of failing to slow down for merging traffic, and police say he had been drinking before getting behind the wheel.  His next hearing is in two weeks.  Judge Elliott Levine says Rychtik’s 100-thousand dollar bond will not be changed.
