Fire And Smoke Empty Apartments Above Sawtooth Sam’s

They don’t know yet what caused a fire today that cleared out several apartments  above Coconut Joe’s and Sawtooth Sam’s bars in La Crosse…

Nobody was injured, or had to be evacuated from the second floor, where the fire was confined to one apartment.  Division fire chief Mark Amann (AMM-un) says smoke from the fire affected apartments in a long hallway stretching from 3rd Street to the alley:

Firemen had to rescue two people from a fire escape on the north side of the building.  Some pets were also taken out of the apartments…while one cat jumped to the ground from an upstairs window.
