UW-L Lawsuits
Two people are now suing U-W-La Crosse over one controversial hiring
decision, which has been called a case of nepotism. Earlier this month, Jay Lokken filed a suit with the state, saying he was moved to a different job on campus after complaining about the process used to hire an associate director of his department. Lokken was the director of international education until the end of September. The new associate director is the wife of a vice-chancellor at U-W-L, and Lokken claims he was punished for trying to challenge her hiring. His suit follows one filed six months ago by Sandra Sieber, who is claiming age discrimination. Sieber is over 50, and believes she was turned down for the associate director’s job two years ago because of her age.
