Cause Of 2013 Fatal Plane Crash At Caledonia Still Unknown

One year after three men died in a Houston County plane crash, we know more about what happened…but not why it happened.

The N-T-S-B has released a factual report about the accident which occurred the day after Halloween last year at the Caledonia airport.  No probable cause has been determined yet.  Four men from the Detroit area were flying to South Dakota on a hunting trip when the plane hit the ground, apparently while trying to land.  Just one man survived, and he told investigators that he doesn’t know why they would have attempted to land at Caledonia, except as a rest stop and a place to walk their dogs.  Joseph Stevens remembers waking up in a La Crosse hospital, unable to recall any details of the crash.
