Jackson County Sheriff To Take On BRF PD?

Some city leaders in Black River Falls want to disband the city police force

and contract with Jackson County for law enforcement. Interim Police Chief, Patrick LaBarbera says it wouldn’t not be the first time that’s happened in the state.

The city administrator said it’s a duplication of services to have a local department when the sheriff’s department has jurisdiction over the entire county, including Black River Falls. A possible sheriff’s department arrangement would provide 24/7 coverage and not be similar to part-time arrangements the county has with other local municipalities. No word yet from the city council.
