Local Deer Totals Down Significantly

While the biggest drop in deer registrations for opening weekend in Wisconsin occurred in the northern part of the state this year, area counties also saw pretty sizable decreases over last year.  According to just-released DNR numbers, La Crosse county’s total registrations dropped by about 130 or 8% over last year’s opening weekend.  While Monroe county was down by 12%, Vernon by 15% and Trempealeau by 7%.  Statewide, opening weekend registrations were off by almost 19% from last year’s totals.
