Plans For Remodeling Library Entrance Being Revived
The future of La Crosse’s public library has been a big local story for the last two years…as library officials have been under pressure to keep two branch locations open.
Now that the budget discussions have quieted down for a while, some city residents have revived the idea of remodeling the front entrance to the Main Street library. The city park board says that work could be done simultaneously with improvements to Main Street itself. Arts board president Donald Smith would like to see that happen:
Smith expects that neighborhood groups would support plans to make the library entrance more attractive. Much of the remodeling talk has dealt with whether to retain a fountain and sculpture outside the library door.
