Houston County Frac Mining Heats Up

Two public meetings are coming in Houston County now that a new frac sand

mining ordinance has been proposed by the county board. And an environmental group is lining up there troops to attend both and get the community involved. Besides silica sand dust collecting on people’s property, Bruce Kuehmichel with the group, Houston County Protectors says the problems go beyond that.

Houston County Protectors continue to emphasize that to avoid harmful effects, to insure safety, health, and property values, only a ban will accomplish this goal. Backed by 450 petitioner’s signatures, from county residents, demanding a frac sand silica ban ordinance be created.
