La Crosse Center Ship Shape
If the La Crosse Center is going to compete with newer and bigger convention
halls in the region, having more hotel rooms nearby would help. A Minnesota consultant looking at the future of the civic center says about 350 hotel rooms are within half-a-mile of the arena…and that’s low compared to other cities.
But John Kaatz of the C-S-L company also says the La Crosse Center gets a very high ‘walkability’ rating for having the river, restaurants, and other attractions close to the building. A new Hampton Inn and the remodeled Ross Furniture building should provide hundreds of new rooms downtown in the next year.
