Cautious Approach To Minnesota’s Budget Forecast
A new economic forecast in Minnesota shows a budget surplus approaching
$1 billion. State finance leaders will make another economic prediction in late February or early March that lawmakers will use to pass a final budget by late May. House Speaker designate, Representative Kurt Daudt says he’ll take a look at those numbers then.
Governor Mark Dayton is predicting a budget surplus of about $900 million. That’s about 2.5 percent of the state’s two-year $34 billion budget.
