Grinch Steals Community Christmas Tree

A community Christmas tree was stolen from the village park in the Village of Readstown a few weeks ago. At the time of the theft, the decorated Christmas tree was sitting in a village gazebo at the park in the business area of Readstown.

The tree stand was also damaged. A note left at the scene of the theft stated, “The Grinch was here.”

On Friday, 19 year old Jerry Wilder Jr. of Readstown, was hauled in by the Vernon County Sheriff Office and confessed to stealing the Christmas tree. Charges on Jerry Wilder Jr. will be referred to the Vernon County District Attorney Office.

The case is still under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff Office and the Readstown Police Department.
