#10 WIZM Story Of The Year
The project will take years to complete, and it’s been a source of
controversy for many years already. The idea of a high-power line from the La Crosse area to Madison remains a hot topic…hot enough to rank at number 10 on our newsroom’s list of the biggest local stories of 2014. Local governments and private citizens object to the effect that a large transmission line could have on businesses and the quality of life. Brian Meter of the Citizen’s Energy Committee is among the vocal opponents:
A large crowd turned out in the Town of Holland last week for a hearing on the Badger Coulee plans. Tied with the power line at number 10 is the disbanding of the Myrick Hixon Eco Park, which had been established as a center for environmental education.
