6th Biggest Story Of 2014

An explosion and fire at Midwest Fuels in La Crosse is our newsroom’s 6th

largest story of 2014. Reporter Dan Deicher was on scene moments after the blast shook the city’s Northside.

The fire November 19th was set off by heat from a blow torch mixing with vapors from the diesel/asphalt mix in a 50 foot tall tank. Residents of the neighborhood were told to stay indoors because of air quality concerns. That advisory was lifted about 2 hours later. An employee received minor injuries from the blast that could be felt from miles around. And the story blasted it’s way into our top 6 largest story’s of 2014.
