Higher School Tax Levy In Rushford-Peterson Will NOT Double Most Tax Bills
There must be some misunderstanding…
The superintendent of the Rushford-Peterson schools has heard complaints from local taxpayers about their taxes doubling after a new school referendum was approved this fall. Chuck Ehler thinks media reports of a school board tax vote have led to some confusion:
Which is true…the school district portion of the tax bill will rise 139 per cent. But Ehler says that doesn’t mean everyone’s total property tax bill will double. The taxes on a 100-thousand dollar home could go up about 50 cents a day. Rushford-Peterson voters said yes to a 38-million dollar bond issue that will help pay for a new school to open three years from now.
