Independence Deadline Friday
While most cities in Wisconsin have their candidates lined up for spring
elections already, one area community is searching for city council candidates yet this week. Residents of Independence will have until Friday afternoon to apply for three council vacancies. Those seats have opened up on short notice because of the death of one council member and two resignations, including one just last week. The Independence council needs at least four members present for meetings, but they only have three now. The city plans to fill those vacant seats at a special meeting next Monday, with one seat in Ward 3 already up for election in April.
