Nelson Says Slow Down Accountability BIll
In the Wisconsin State Assembly’s proposed school accountability bill, the
state could take control of and privatize underperforming schools. Under the plan, schools would receive a letter grade based on student testing. The bill gets it’s one and only public hearing today in Madison. Randy Nelson, Superintendent of La Crosse Public Schools, says whoa …..slow down a minute.
Meanwhile, Senate Republicans have a different plan. Poorly performing public schools would not be forced to become charter schools. The bill would also create a new state panel to work with school boards on turnaround plans.
