Walker Touts School Bill During Speech
School accountability is high on Scott Walker’s wish list for the future in
Wisconsin. Governor Walker gave the first state of the state speech of his second term on Tuesday. He wants lawmakers to pass a bill making information about every Wisconsin public school available to parents, so they can choose where to send their kids. Walker noted that his two sons and his nieces have attended public schools:
Assembly Republicans are backing a bill to require failing public schools to become charter schools. But Republicans in the Senate have a different plan which would not punish public schools for poor performance.
