La Crosse Council Votes Tonight on New Hotel

Building design standards for downtown La Crosse are at the center of a scheduled vote tonight at a city council meeting.  The city has some pretty precise standards for downtown buildings.  Typically, waivers are neither sought nor granted.  But that didn’t stop developers of the Fairfield Inn and Suites project from asking

Mayor Tim Kabat supports granting the design waiver for the project despite planning staff pushing against it.  If the full city council agrees tonight, construction on the four-story, 92-room project at the foot of the Cass street bridge could begin in as little as 60 days.
