Minnesota Pay Raises Suspended
Late last week, Governor Mark Dayton awarded huge pay raises to members of
his cabinet. More than two dozen of the governor’s commissioners received hefty increases of between $22 and $35 thousand. The Met Council Chair, whose job was changed from part-time to full-time, was given a salary increase of more than $86 thousand. All at a tax payer cost of $800 thousand. Minnesota Speaker of the House, Representative Kurt Daudt says that’s all about to change.
On Thursday, the Minnesota Senate voted 63-2 in favor of a move that would suspend the salary increases. Daudt says the House will continue to study the issue, and will move the Senate bill through the committee process.
