Pay Raises Holding……For Now
By July 2nd, authority will return to the Minnesota Legislature to give pay
raises to commissioners, repealing a 2013 measure that gave the governor discretion over cabinet pay. A good move says House Speaker, Kurt Daudt.
The controversy started when Governor Mark Dayton earlier this month enacted raises for his commissioners that were as high as $35 thousand, with many of them getting pay bumps to about $155 thousand. They have now been frozen until July 1st…though the Governor could dish them out then. That wouldn’t be a good move says Daudt.
