Loon Applauds Education Package Approval
A Minnesota education reform bill passed, 70-63, Thursday night. The
controversial bill would allow school districts, when making layoff decisions, to consider not only a teacher’s years of service, but also their performance. State Representative Jenifer Loon, from Eden Prairie, authored the bill. On the house floor…she asked her colleagues one simple question.
The bill would also make it easier for out of state educators to teach in Minnesota. Democrats and Education Minnesota, the state teachers union, strongly oppose the bill. Governor Dayton vetoed a similar GOP backed bill in 2012.
