Ophelia House Future Grows
A year after a serious drug incident at a La Crosse halfway house, the
facility appears to be doing better in rehabilitating local women.
The La Crosse County Board heard a report last night about Ophelia’s House, where two women had near-fatal overdoses in one night early last year. Jane Klekamp from the county’s Justice Support office says enlarging the staff at Ophelia’s apparently has helped more women complete the program:
Women are sent to Ophelia’s House usually as part of a court sentence. Klekamp says women there are less likely to return if they can stay there for about 30 days.
