Water Test Fees Could Go Up
La Crosse County could approve more fee increases this week…costing you more money, if you need to have your wells or other drinking water tested.
The county has to send out water samples to labs that are raising their prices, and that means higher fees for the average customer. And county health director Doug Mormann says the state is urging more property owners to get their water screened for hazardous substances:
To make up for the higher costs, the county wants to double the fee for one test for lead, and raise other fees by several dollars. One of the highest fees is for the frac sand test…more than 350 dollars.
