Here Come The Cams

New surveillance cameras are closer to reality for downtown La Crosse.  The La Crosse City Vision Foundation has posted a request for proposals on its website for the project that will put about three dozen cameras downtown to keep an eye on any possible criminal activity.  Private fundraising for the camera project began more than two years ago but has required significant involvement by the city IT and police department to work out the tech aspects of what will be installed and how it will operate.  Police will be in charge of camera use once they go up.  Which could be sometime this summer.
