Stop Piling It On
A convicted sex offender from Vernon County accuses a prosecutor of ‘piling on,’ charging him with more crimes after he complained about the original charges. But a state appeals court is rejecting Ernest Rimson’s appeal. Rimson is serving a 30-year prison term for sexually assaulting a girl while babysitting her. He found flaws in the first criminal complaint, but the amendment included more charges for harsher penalties. The appeals judges say the prosecutor was following Rimson’s request for a review, and they didn’t buy the accusation of ‘vindictive prosecution.’
