Downtown Cameras Are Close

Bids for a new camera surveillance system in downtown La Crosse will likely be in by next week.

It’s about three dozen cameras to start with and it’s involved more than two years of fundraising and organization.  But Mike Keil, with the La Crosse City Vision Foundation likes how things are shaping up

Keil expects bids for the installation of the system to wind up somewhere between 300 and 350 thousand dollars.  His organization has raised about 450 thousand dollars overall to support the program and future expansion.  City police will operate the cameras once they are installed.
