Onalaska Starts Tree Planting
For the 15th year in a row, the Arbor Day Foundation recognized the City of Onalaska as a Tree City USA. And in honor of that and today being Arbor Day, school kids and Onalaska City leaders planted 8 trees near city hall Thursday. A start on the replacing of 500 Ash trees recently taken down. But City Engineer, Jarred Holter says don’t expect all of the recent stump holes to be filled in with a new tree.
To help kickstart the tree planting process, second graders at Irving Pertzsch Elementary were called in to get their hands a bit dirty and to learn about different species of trees.
